Ever wondered where you were before you were born?

The incredible thing about Islam is that it has answers, and they are often not direct answers to direct questions.
The answers are there for those who look...

The following is my opinion... and once again I emphasize that I am no Scholar.. cannot quote a verse of Qur'an nor Hadith verbatim. I cannot translate nor understand the original Arabic...but Allah t'ala declares that HE is the owner of MIGHTY Grace, Powerful Mercy... Surah Muhammad...

I am not going to tell the full story, but give you glimpses so that you might yourself take the steps to educate yourself.. very much in the style of Abu Hanifa (rm) whoose means and school of instruction was based around questioning..
The questions you ask are much more powerful, significant that the answers you give..

So the question is Where were you before you were born?
They (the Orientalists) say that islam was copied from Judaism and Christianity.. but this is exactly what the Qu'ran declares of itself that it is a confirmation of what was sent before...

But the story of the creation of man only ever really appears fully in the revelation which is the Qur'an..
1) Allah t'ala created Adam... (very important to read- S2 baqara)
2) From the loins of Adam came the children of Adam.. the whole of mankind in the form of Dhurrah.. atoms.. particles... or souls. And then Allah t'ala took from the whole of mankind an oath that they would only ever worship HIM. And then He says that this was taken so that on the Day of Reckoning no excuse could be made. (Surah Arafah: the Heights)
3) Muhammad (pbuh) is sent, is denied by his people, his wife and his guardian (who both comforted him and protected him against vilification) die- the year of Grief. And then in one night he goes on a Buraq (a flying horse) to Jerusalem, leads all of the Prophets in prayer and then the Arch-Angel Gibrael (Gabriel) takes him and they ascend together to heaven. In the lowest heaven he meets Adam (pbuh), the father of mankind, who looks to his right and is happy beause he sees his children that will be destined for heaven and looks to his left and feels saddened because he sees those destined for hell. The hadith (saying of Muhammad (saw)) goes on..please refer to it yourself.

Now no one ever asked this question of Muhammad (pbuh) son of Abdullah... but the answer is plain for any who look to see.
Those children of Adam that surround him on this day in the lowest heaven are the children yet to be born. Then Allah t'ala (God the One, the Most High) takes them and blows them into their bodies at 12 weeks.

Allah t'ala created us, took a covenant from us, and keeps us in Heaven with Adam (pbuh) our father until it is our time to be born into this world. To face trials and tribulations... to determine which of us will be true. Which of us will fulfill th covenant that we took at the begining of creation.
Peace....Shafi
